Two Concentric Circles in Negative Space is a performance that works with the tension between representational methods in white cube, black box and public space. Two mobiles hang from the ceiling in a black box and are set in motion by a performer using an assistive device. The performer wears a suit and is thus reminiscent of a museum employee. A second performer is joining the space. She is more of a fantastic origin, a projection and yet one of the strongest existing forces, the sea. Two stories, one of a guard and the other one of the sea, collide in the presence of a kinetic object. In the end, both narratives are as valid in the space as its audience. By translating the installation into a black box, the piece reflects the movements of objects in space, observing the tension between formalization and ritualization that is created and contemplated.
